MMXI

I suck at introductions so please, bear with me. This is simply entitled 2011 since this will be a short recap featuring the highlights of this year. I like the fact that it has “11″ in it, one of my favorite numbers. More like magical. Nevermind. My 2011 has been whimsical in such a way that things are so unpredictable. I met so many people, lost some  in the long run, was at the verge of falling inlove, had experienced a LOT of unimaginable things–everything. Maybe that’s what a year in a life is all about. You really can’t predict what’s in store for you everyday. You just have to grab and enjoy everything in it; good or bad. Let my 2011 Starbucks Planner be your guide :)

31 December 2011

Dear 2011,

Thanks! But, I’ll let you tell them why I am thankful you came in my calendar!

*with the help of  My Starbucks 2011 Planner*

January

HOLA, 2011! I’m not really a fan of New Year’s but I can’t close myself to new things :) Must avoid temptation: ALCOHOL. I swear, this is one of the best January of my life ever. Need not to expound since I can lend you my Starbucks 2011 Planner for more information and a hint WHY. And yes, I am *Proud to Be Thomasian @ 400* (w/ my best bud, Noreen Maneja)

Here are a list of the things I did this January that is not readable in the Notes page:

  • Forever thankful for having clothes, food and good education
  • Got a Good Grade from Thy Major Subject
  • Did something really stupid w/ Noreen
  • Accepted by a Guy for being Flat Chested
  • Was Confronted
  • “If there’s something I am always stunned at is the fact that friendship could really grow into something else..

February

The Notes in my February in my Starbucks 2011 Planner is obvious, I need to exert more effort! I need to find my motivation.

The picture below is a shot from the Turtle Sanctuary in Morong,Bataan (about) during our Natural Science trip under Prof. Olivar. Six students from our class, 2ASN1 joined the trip thus, that ain’t gonna stop us from partying. Juhainah w/ the turtle, Noreen in One for UST shirt,Marga with the Round Glasses and I, fooling around at the back. Ann and Denny are not here for reasons i don’t know. One of which may have taken this picture. Again, I will direct you to the link WHY. :)

Something to quote from this month: “You’re so sweet for doing things beyond your reach, I can’t afford losing you” :(

March

COMPLICATED, the perfect word to describe this month. Frankly, this month was the dullest of all. I really have nothing to expound since I rather keep my mouth shut. Sorry, some things are better kept to ourselves. Again, for details, WHY

Keep Calm and Say, Bitch, I Don’t Live to Please You~ Had them turned on since people are so annoying this month. I think imma give up :(

April

The month where Teach Me How To Dougie became popular here in the Philippines. Although March was a bit cruel, I’m thankful April wasn’t. I was able to meet new people, lost some and gained some. God, why does April seem to be the start of my year? Since its vacay, time to indulge myself and forget about school stuff! Boo yeah \m/

  • LAKERS, baby!
  • Saw myself without braces and got my 2nd set
  • Some people just can’t avoid temptation. fck!!! Not gonna drink after this!
  • Don’t know who to trust anymore, people would take advantage of your size whatever role you play in their lives.
  • A missed chance of watching The Script’s concert because of the Thai Trip :(
  • Thailand Trip w/ Mama, MedinaBros., Mom Cel and Ate Kaye <3
  • Cousins, I LOVEEEE. (bottom picture)

May

Start of the Month: Labor Day and a good friend‘s Birthday! La la la, trying to forget the bad things that happened during the months February & March and trying to cope the loss of a good friend for reasons that involves feelings and blahh. Vacation days are nearly over and I didn’t even feel the sun in my skin.

Some promising statements written during the month of MAY.

  • “I want someone to kiss me like how John kisses Savannah” (after watching Dear John w/ my niece)
  • Watched Thor with my BFF. :)
  • LOYAL? Guys know that by spelling but they certainly lack in the “execution” part.
  • Love? A sense of stability. :)
  • Pau isn’t in his best for getting his heart broken, maybe its Bynum complaining for some trust issues or Kobe afraid of handing Phil a retirement season not worthy to talk about. But whatever that is, I guess the defending Champs will pass the torch. 0-3 Still won’t make me less of a Lakers. (people kept on blaming me for the loss of the Lakers, WTF people? I’m just a fan)
  • Lakers or the Defending Champs, 0-4 to the Dallas Mavs <//////3

June

June 2011, Last 4 Semesters in the University of Santo Tomas (hopefully). OMG, didn’t realize my stay in UST is so short until I wrote “last 4 semesters”. Woaw, new school life, I must have the ass to study harder despite of the lazy schedule. Imagine, no classes during tuesdays and thursdays. Smelling for a broke semester here! :(

One thing that I remind myself starting this June: MUST ENJOY LIFE!

July

My experiences in the month of July: LIFETIME :) TBH, Words aren’t enough to express how thankful I am every month.

  • Went to Nike the Fort to get tix for Kobe’s Asia Tour w/ my guy bestfriend
  • Danced Jessie J’s Price Tag, Bruno Mars’ Lazy Song and Lady Gaga’s Born this Way during the Asian Studies’ General Assembly.
  • Submitted my own SONA as an answer to PNOY’s recent SONA for our Political Dynamics class.
  • Kobe Manila Tour 2011 @ Araneta Coliseum with Mom and my guy bestfriend plus a possible (about there) meet and greet Kobe Bryant
  • Getting featured in KMJS’s Kobe in Manila Segment, July 16 Episode
  • Watched Captain America with the guy who’s currently making me feel terribly special :)

August

Seriously, the Iloilo Trip is the only remarkable thing that goes through my mind whenever I encounter the word AUGUST. Sorry, that Iloilo Trip was the bomb except the part where I/we all had to go through Prelims Paper for Political Dynamics. The rest, I don’t have any idea. Wait, just remember my Performance Art in my Art Appreciation Class where I made all my blockmates cry. I’m very sorry, it wasn’t part of the plan to make you all cry. :(

Check out Kenny Rankin’s Hiding Inside Myself, the background music during my performance :(

September

Few more days, SEMBREAK plus the fact that I must enjoy the last days of being 18. Ohh, tell me what to feel, how to feel 19. And the fact that I must study harder, put more effort in my work especially in my Political Dynamics subject.

The month filled w/ paper works. I don’t know whether should I be happy or not. Happy because we don’t get to have quizzed. Not because its PAPER work, everything should be thought of twice. College life, made complicated because of these pile of paper works.

  • Asian Studies Team Bldg.
  • Was on a restaurant hopping every week for our “semi thesis paper”, broke every week. In addition, 100 Respondents from the UAAP Players in the Univ. Hell, goodluck with that!
  • Surprised my other girl best bud, Marga (linking thru her page is mot applicable) and yes, I know, its on her list!
  • Talking about relationships -_-

Every month, even if things didn’t go the way I want them to be, I’m still thankful. The fact that I breathe, eat, do things without worrying is a blessing :-) and this shall apply to every month of every year in my life ;)

October

HOHO! Birthday Month + Finals, here you are again! I just can’t imagine spending the succeeding years without these combo. As usual, this part/page of the planner is the awesome-st of all. I know, favoritism. Sorry if the pictures starting from the write up in the month of January up to the end (December) are blurry, I was half awake when I took them. :-)

What’s written:

  • Study for finals
  • Good way to end 1st sem
  • Think of a Memorable 19th Bash with five arrows stating (1) Must take a picture wearing my 18th Gown (2) Change Primary Photo to any shot last year (3) Start Planning what tattoo to get by the age of 20 (4) Post or change status (5) Must Spend thy birthday w/ Friends who were there since IDK Time.
  • Stay Calm and Wait for the Lakers
  • Ate @ Brooklyn Pizza after being surprised by the GUY who’s making me terribly special. Cried my heart out, almost.
  • Didn’t fail anything! YAHOOO!
  • 19th Bash (celebration) @ Villa Julia
  • Watched The Black Eyed Peas Concert in MOA Concert Grounds w/ my Brother & his Girl ;)
  • BEST EVER BIRTHDAY MONTH
So there, need I say more? Yes, this is the Best Ever Birthday Month so far ;) Ze last year of being a TEEN.

November

There are some things I can’t recondite. Aside from being sick on a November 1st and hanging out w/ a long lost guy friend, as I said earlier, things are harder than I imagine them.

The start of November was good, not that I’m not happy about it~ I am really NOT happy with the way things went w/ me and the guy whom I once said, made me feel terribly special. Now I know, terribly special was the best way to describe that. How can someone make you feel so darn special and still gets the cold feet. Like, seriously? If you know you can’t keep your promises or whatever that is, atleast you have the decency to tell me earlier. Sorry for blabbing, I just can’t accept the fact the the word “i love you” will NEVER be an assurance of someone’s desire to be with you. Bull, totally.

Enough of the hatred and cynicism,  anyway, its his loss and not mine. I’m just thankful i’m not fckn’ inlove with him. Or yes, I’m doomed!

Talk about something good about this month;  Unique date only occurs on one day every 100 years; November 11,2011.

Something good happens— There is absolutely no scientific basis for this belief. There are no known logical premises for this belief. The belief that something good will happen is based solely on faith and/or innate optimism. This belief is not necessarily false; we don’t know everything; the probability is not zero. (source)

Not only was this day special because it is patterned but because on this day, I (together w/ my sister & Noreen) met 4 guys on the midst of a balloon stuck in a tree in the Lover’s Lane in UST. They were originally 2 Tall guys who passed by and offered their heights and there, came this magical friendship! I hope this lasts a lifetime. Funny thing is that whenever I think of how I miss the Jasha Boys (Khasim, Niko, Ak & Ac), I refer to the 4 guys I met during 11.11.11. They seem to be like my Jasha Boys. Only better. I love them and as I mentioned, I hope we last a lifetime!

~There, the 2 things; annoying & something to smile about that I remember with November 2011. Thanks, 11! :-)

December

Since my stay in my 2011 planner is counted, I had to make the most of it worth it :)

As I started the year with a blast as I am part of UST’s 400th Celebration, the end will prolly be about that too! There are so many things I am thankful of this month.

  • Getting everything I want; having a good family is so much blessing, good health, good food, good education, good people around me and safe environment.
  • Learning Monopoly Deal
  • A lot of people giving me good advices and making me realize how my life is too precious to be spent to people not worthy to be in it.
  • Parokya ni Edgar, spending Paskuhan Day 1 w/ My BFF’s && The 11.11.11 people
  • Christmas Party and Winning the HAPPY SMILE Award. Hihi :”> w/ 3ASN1
  • Paskuhan 2011
  • My first ever Paskuhan After Party and my first time in Eastwood. Yes, I am a loser and I am not afraid to admit that! :P
There are so many things I wanna say but i’m not permitted to since they are in my 2012 Planner. It was an oath I took that if and only if I ever get the chance to write every page in my 2011 planner will be an indicator that I shall get a 2012 Planner.
And yes, I don’t just drink coffee, spend hundreds just because everyone’s in it~ but because I made a deal w/ myself. Woo, responsible enough to finish my planner! :3
Although there are quite a number of bad things that happened this year, I’m still grateful that I get through them alive and kicking. At times I think like I can’t do it, they’re just thoughts, never let them eat you alive! This is my last entry for the year 2011. Yes, this blog post is not as good as my previous since I really, really wanted to have that ONE blog entry on a December 31st. This shall serve as a reminder of how awesome my 2011 was! :)
Thank you, 2011! I will forever cherish you. You have been a splendid year to me! Hence, I am looking forward to a 2012 full of love and magic!
To the people who made it in my 2011, join me in another year of unpredictable events! I Love You! :x  ♥

In the end, its not the number of months, year I had in my life  its the life in every month, every year that matters. ❤

XOXO,

TELEVOLUTION: There’s More to Me than Meets the Eye

Men are not born with full knowledge and awareness of his surroundings. He needs instruments to feed his thoughts and supply the information he acquired as time passes by. Since the discovery of the medium in communicating information, the usage of telegrams to the invention of the telephone and the printing press, with the power of airwaves (radio), to the creation of television, up to the influx of SMS and the growing popularity of social networking through the internet—- media has played a vital role in our daily lives; more particular to the State and its people. However, on our daily lives we rely on the media to get the current news and facts about what is important and what we should be aware of[1]. Media has become a tool in disseminating information that happens around the globe that reached out and influenced people widely.

But what is unique about media is that it is essential to the growth of another. Politics and the media are inseparable— they are dependent and almost parasitic[2]. Since the media is created to deliver and inform the people of the global and or local news in terms of social, economic and political issues, politics came to be as the main highlight of the media. Political media are communication vehicles owned, ruled, managed, or otherwise influenced by political entities, meant to propagate views of the related entity [3]. The government, politicians and political groups communicate their agenda to the mass through the media while the media sees it as an opportunity to get a high rating and for money’s sake. Moreover, celebrity and media are two elements that go along together. The lights, camera and action created and molded ordinary people into fame. Celebrities are so influential that they too can wage their stardom and use it in endorsing products and later on, entering the political scene. Like politics and media, showbiz on the contrary, gives spice to the much tensioned media brought about by politics. The entry of celebrities into politics was said to be a “dangerous trend”[4]considering that there are more dilemmas that is faced by those in the television news with those in the entertainment section who are making a scene in the political arena. Sure media is not only a vehicle for spreading information, it is also a good business to earn money.

Through time and the continuous desire of men to create and enhance technology, changes abound the world we live in and media is immediately affected.

ROLE OF THE MEDIA

Media is born to raise truth among people. With the invention of the television, radio, newspaper and the internet, they have become the conveyor and the force that brought up changes in every Nation in the globe. There are a number of elements or agents involved in creating our social, economic and political awareness. My paper will focus on the Media, in particular, with the Reign of the Television. Media, in this (my) sense is made limited to denote television alone.

Once upon a time, we see all news, view of the government, even of the stock market through books, journals, radio and banners [1]. But now, everything is in the hands of the television, to see, enjoy and be criticized by the society.

The traditional role of media is apparent[2]. While it appears on the eye that its role is to make information directly available, the media (television) spoon feeds in such a way that one can see, hear or read from it. The apparent roles of media in a democratic society: First, as spectators or onlookers to the flow of data among the players of politics. Second, the like is known as the fourth pillar or the fourth branch of the government since is works as the watchdogs that we rely on for uncovering errors and wrongdoings by those who have power. Lastly, it is the ultimate servant of the State by which the State generates support [3].

The television should provide quality and independent programming that contributes to a plurality of opinions and an informed public and to provide comprehensive news and current affairs programming which is impartial, accurate and balanced[4].  The media is used by the State to spread public information that were created as neutral entities with its main goal as to record and provide information during noteworthy events and circumstances. The media’s primary function is to serve as a watchdog. Known as the surveillance function, the media should continuously monitor the performance of the players in the political system. However, the secondary function of the media is through the agenda setting function, it manifests in their ability to set the public agenda by prioritizing and projecting in a positive or negative manner[5]. The media have always checked irregularities or mistakes made by public officials. Similarly, it has put politicians and bureaucrats who are constantly watched against corruption as the number source of information and with that, the media is empowered.

Media is the biggest apparatus in bringing awareness in the society whether it is social, economical or political.

METHODS THE MEDIA USE IN BRINGING CHANGE

Communication is central to the task of the media. Helping people at all levels to communicate empowers them to recognize important issues and find common grounds for action and builds a sense of identity and participation in order to implement their decisions[6]. Communication is the main weapon companies who want to market their products, politicians who sought a position in the government and even charities that are in need of partners that can help them gains funds that is offered clearly by the media.

There are three kinds of media ownership that made information dissemination possible; Public is controlled by the government, while Semipublic is manifested when they are privately and publicly financed and controlled at the same time[7] and the Private ownership is mostly concentrated in the hands of prominent families, private corporations and businesses. Tracing why there resides such ownership would lead to past and present experience with the same people: small conglomeration of feudal landowners, compradors[8] and bureaucrat capitalist.

But the audience feels that a story is more convincing when they see an example they can identify with.

Advertising has a profound influence on the choice of products. Advertisements are span of television programming produced and paid for by an organization that conveys a message, typically one intended to market a product. Ads are used to promote a wide variety of goods, services and ideas. It features songs or melodies (jingles) or slogans designed to be striking and memorable which may remain in the minds of the TV viewers [9].  It has used a lot of techniques in marketing products and has come up with catchy commercials that may inflict consciousness to its people.

Charity owners saw the need to promote their agenda through advertising, they created partnership with networks that would help them gain more financial support since the TV reaches a large bulk of the society. Through charities, it helps bring change in our world and allows people of all ages and background to continue to make a positive difference. Networks commercialized charities and the viewers can easily link themselves and help people in need in just a couple of seven digits. It is so high technology that they are a phone call away.

Like product advertising, without political ads, politicians hungry for a position had no means of getting their names known to their voters. The television has become a “powerful media”, that it has played a vital part in Philippine elections, it helped shape and formulate the Filipino’s opinions on issues. The media captured its audience through advertising, aggressive public relations with broadcasters and all sorts of means. TV networks created “Commercial packages” that offered candidates with included favorable times of commercials, press releases, daily interviews and rally coverage to be aired on the networks[10]. This method, meant that the people can acquire information about what the politicians would like to tell them if the politicians subscribe to the package offered by TV networks or if the politicians are willing to spend the bulk of their funds to such package in order to broadcast their agendas and hopefully, influence the decision of the viewers. Part of these packages include politicians who want to appear appealing to the mass people would appear in their television ads singing, dancing or even acting to make the people realize that they are ordinary people too and that they are not all about being formal. On the contrary, if politicians do not want to appear as mentioned they see media entertainers or celebrities becoming their important weapon as endorsers. This strategy is effective because it helps a politician who wants to ensure a top rank in the race foresee the outcome and celebrities’ image are given much attention by the people rather than the politician itself. Since politicians are becoming entertainers, they also hold informal structured press cons that just talks, shares gossips and intrigues[11]. By this, there is no tension or formality and they would just focus or create more drama on their private lives rather than their plans or agendas because some people would rather watch other people talk about their private lives than their platforms and plans for the State.

They (media) also have the ability to label issues significant to betterment and can set a pace for what topics should be given attention and what the government should first respond accordingly. News programs inserts a segment that would require the pulse of the people represented by its viewers or with concerns regarding their surroundings by sending pictures and videos, TV programs particularly the news programs are able to encourage its viewers to get involved and somehow change a part of their environment.

Television series were created with drama context, intensity that refers to an individual’s degree of involvement or motivation.[12]. There is a growing connectedness between the drama series and its consumer. Drama series especially in the Philippines usually portray the life of an ordinary Filipino where a master and a slave is the usual character or sometimes, depicts corruption and wrong doings in the government manifested through the army, police, etc. that indirectly addresses a possible scenario in real life Philippine setting.

IT’S EFFECTIVENESS

Television permits you to reach the majority of people on a national or regional level in a short period of time.

Product advertising has convinced people that you could be even greater by the purchase of the said product or service[13]. The product never actually lived to its implied promise, but it did not stopped people from watching and wanting them. If people are not patronizing the product, then the advertisement should have faded, still the convincing powers of advertisements keep the industry alive. There is also “Shock advertising” that deviates the people from the traditional way of advertising. As such, it creates buzz, captures attention to attract an audience to a certain brand or bring awareness to a certain public service issue, health issue, cause, bring awareness of injustices and others. Although it is controversial, disturbing, it challenges the public’s conventional understanding of the issues that concerns it [14].

One way that the media shapes our political reality is by mixing facts with opinions [15] and in doing so it can manipulate the message it wants to tell. People in this sense, do not carefully examine the facts they get and easily concludes instead of looking at both sides.

TV dramas have the power to influence people. It suggests persuasive messages that can be better received if its audience are wrapped in a story rather than merely knowing them through reports. It attacks its viewer that these dramatized stories may somehow be applicable to their lives and what it shows can help them overcome possible dilemmas faced by characters in the series in the future. It helps them foresee and get them selves prepared to the near future.

PROBLEMS THAT BESET THE MEDIA

There is a growing concern that the mass media are not fulfilling their functions properly. The news is more entertaining than informing, supplying mostly gossip, scandals, sex, and violence. Political news is more about personalities than about their ideologies. It is also claimed that these watchdogs are barking of the wrong things. The media hunt for scandals in the private lives of politicians and their families, but ignore much more serious consequences of their policies [16]. Speculations about TV networks forcing disabled people to appear on their news programs or charities in such a way that they’re tax will be diminished. While false advertising about whitening soap, dishwashing soap, food additives, vitamin products, etc. are merely just part of the notional world created to make people believe that having them would make them stand out, creating happiness with the influx of such commercialized products, there are problems that beset the industry.

Commercial ads’ messages are temporary and may require for multiple airing in order for the audience to get its point. Hence, good or bad, people from any age can easily grab dialogues and scenes aired by the television. It may retain to their memory that what they see and hear must be true.

Some TV Networks conduct a deal or partnership with Charities to enjoy a discount in the tax they have to pay since charities are exempted from tax. The real purpose of TV networks should be helping the charities promote and garner funds to support the less fortunate instead of making money.

Political and commercial ads have limited length of exposure, as most ads are only thirty seconds long or less that limits the amount of information you can communicate[17]. Although bombarding the national TV with catchy phrases with limited number of statements can imply a misunderstanding and lack of information to be addressed to its viewer.

Many political parties have invaded the television channels in order to use them as weapon in winning a post in the government. This measures the credibility of media. Rating points translate into profits maximizing audience size is now the driving force behind most TV networks. This has resulted in a shift away from stories which have social and political significance to stories that are “more engaging” and more easily understood by viewers [18]. Their accountability to the viewing, listening, and reading public is being eclipsed by commercial transactions that obscure both the public service role of the press and its mandate to remain independent and free of personal and partisan interests [19]. Media’s function has changed because there is a growing need and competition among the industry. Apart from the service it gives to the society, they have to earn also. Censorship was a given reality especially to networks owned by the public that media men had to deal with. Those who would not follow the side of the government can start finding another job[20]. From such, the media are taking different steps to expand its business that sometimes or unnoticeably, they are deviated from the principles they have sworn to function.

Entertainment press has taken over the task of building up politicians on the entertainment side. Not many journalists believe that the ethical standards for the media that cover politicians and celebrities should be the same[21]. The fact that there should be a lower standard for the entertainment press is becoming more threatening since entertainment writers stray into politics.

Media killings or extrajudicial killings are rooted to those noted to be critical on exposing corruption scandals, or regularly attacking the government agencies (army, police, politicians, etc.)[22]. As a result, a general impunity continues to predominate in the Philippines and media men’s killer’s are still on the look out and not brought behind bars. While there are a growing number of extrajudicial killings, failed investigations and prosecution cases are filed but no further action were done.

PROPOSED SOLUTIONS.

An unjust law is not law at all.  Article XV1 Section 11 of the 1987 Constitution states that the ownership shall be limited to citizens of the Philippines, or to corporations, cooperatives or associations, wholly-owned and managed by such citizens. The Philippine government must somehow devise ways to maintain harmonious relations with the media or regulate the media[23]. They should take all necessary measures to talk about the culture of exemption from punishment and bring the culprit of such violence against journalists to justice. It is the journalists/media’s responsibility to bring the truth no matter what and the government should see that they can protect the fourth branch of the State.

The government should:

-Transform and limit the number of Broadcasting Services that is privately owned into genuine public service broadcasters. Provide clear regulations to limit ownership concentration. Since the government is the supreme law of the land, it should exercise its power to hold or regulate the number of such so as transparency to the people and unbiases can be attained.

-Not limit the right of ownership to citizens of the Philippines but allow foreign broadcasting services to run and establish in the Philippines if it will be a solution and a tool in spreading and reporting credible and free of bribed news.

- Change the policy of the Fair Elections Act of letting politicians employed in a TV network either they are in the newscast or entertainment arena resuming their works or reapplying in a certain period of years. Whether they win or lose, there must be a required number of years they must stay on leave.

-Approve the pending Senate Bill No. 76 proposed by Senator Manny Villar that grants the right of reply and providing penalties for violation regarding publishing statements that are libelous or slanderous (through TV, print, airwaves) in regards to private or public life shall have

the rights to reply to such charges[24] when the media (or a certain network) publishes or circulates libelous statements against a person without adherence to truth, they (the media) in turn must let the person damaged have the right to reply with the same tool they used in publishing the statement.

- Ensure that media men are truly independent from political and commercial pressures through appropriate salaries and funding allotment.

- Take immediate actions as a matter of priority to ensure the safety of all journalists [25] in the Philippines after filing the Writ of Amparo [26] to diminish the growing number of media killings in the country.

- Give fine to those politicians who are reported that have proven to bribe journalists.  And set a certain amount to pay and a certain number of years they must stay in jail depending on the weight of the act of bribing; from media men to the network owner.

TV Networks should:

-Improve and increase coverage on areas outside the Metropolis and on marginalized people and areas since TV has become a primary source of information.

-Disregard or ban television advertisements that are misleading to the viewers and shows obscure images that may affect values of its viewers.

-Come up with company policy on politicians having programs in television.

-Arm their media men since the government fails to make the fourth branch feel that

it is secured and free from threats.

The role of the television has evolved through time. Once regarded as an idiot box, television is now seen as a necessity for those who want to be connected to the world. Hence, the TV’s role would be clearly understood if the society is media-literate in order to understand and do not be easily deceived by the uncertainty of information provided by the media. People are so caught up they almost forget how to differentiate information; what is seen from what should be seen. Another is that when the government fails to do its job, the media should understand its power and sworn duty and should create awareness programs promoting the development of our Nation. In order for the media to build its once good reputation, it must again start with the duties it intended to perform—encourage and facilitate an open exchange of news and views through good reporting and making accurate and timely information that is credible and available to the general public. 2009-004891

memorabilia

Christmas in the University of Santo Tomas is special. VERY. Trust me, in my 3 years of stay in this wonderf (-ul) university, never did I feel like I’m not home. Considering that I am kilometers away from my home, Cavite.

Lights and decorations are what feasts my eyes. I know everyone is, but for me, it’s special. Not only are they put there to serve as eye candies but because UST celebrates PASKUHAN. This is an event held annually–on the last day (Friday) of classes before the beginning of Christmas vacation (based on my observation).  There are raffle draws, concerts and more in this event and at the end, a PyroMusical display is held. I know some people would tell me that instead of my school putting these stuff  and holding such event, why don’t they focus on the “more” important things. Duh? I think, this traditional Christmas tree and Christmas lights all over the school is one way by which the school creates a good atmosphere for its students; that even if they are far away from home, UST will make them feel like they are not.

Enough of the introduction and excuse me for being bossy for ___ minutes (depending on the time you finished reading the above post) and let’s get down to business.. It’ll be short, just let me speak. I know it sounds too dramatic or what but–

I WILL SURELY MISS THIS UNIVERSITY. <///3 (my heart broke into pieces after I typed those 6 words)

I know its too early to express my thoughts but frankly, since the day it became my comfort zone, I swore I’d cry my heart out once I leave this school. Aside from the fact that I only took entrance exams here and in UP, it was obviously my kind of “Dream School”. The people here are nice and I correct those who tell that highschool is where you find your bridesmaid. You may have, but I found them in college. I’m taking every piece of this precious experience since a year or two, it’ll become just a memory. I won’t be here everyday; won’t be observing the school staff setting up the Christmas tree (first picture),  won’t be able to pass through the Plaza Mayor (middle picture) every time I go home or ran to St. Raymund’s Bldg.  and day dream about having someone to sit with in the Lover’s Lane (3rd picture). You gotta capture them, ‘coz they don’t last. I mean, I can still be there, but the experience of seeing them with your friends, wearing that uniform, everything.. its so enchanting and so worth keeping. I will forever love that feeling.

I guess I am so blessed to be in this university. Having the chance to be roomed in 105 and sitting on an armchair, God, that was a blessing. And hey, this blog entry is sugar coat-free. The statements mentioned above are purely an expression of someone who’s starting to move on. FCK. I hate attachments!!!!!  This is so hard. That I had to blog this, I really need to.I’m such a tearjerker :(

Thank you in advance, UST for being my second home. You gave me so much experience and you paved way for a lot of friendships. Excuse me but it topped my secondary school, since it was a bit cruel.

On the other hand, I still have (hopefully) 2 more semesters in this school.

Whether its Paskuhan, or just a plain day–I won’t dare to miss every inch of it, bit by bit. :)

October 31, 2011

i’d rather be in ragged clothes than to walk barefoot

TBH, I started this entry last May but I didn’t have the smart ass to finish it. WOAW. Counting how many months after I had the urge to continue and hopefully, finish it.

The month of October’s gonna end with prolly a blast (even if the beginning was pretty harsh~FINALS), I was able to have the “kilig vibes” flourishing all month and looking forward to a November full of surprises. Since I was inspired by a friend IAMROSE to blog not only by words but by pictures, I am thrilled to copy one of her posts about her love for shoes. Yes, you got a shoe-a-holic here. I think, my shoe collection is a reflection of who I am and what I am. They’re a part of who I am.  Anyway, enough of the drama and  i’ll start of w/ my old-i-can-still-wear slippers to my impulse purchased shoes. (Some of the prices are just an estimation). TOEBERRIES

1) HELLO OLD FRIEND. Green Toeberries

1) NOTE: This are not my very first pair of slippers. Since I started as a footwear-holic way back then, I had a lot of them. Some of them were given to my nieces or was donated to the needy. This pair of slippers reminds me of my “simpler” life. No Havainas, no Crocs, no anything. Just them slippers. Bought this in SM Southmall (since its our favorite shopping mall and I grew up spending most of my weekends there when I was a little girl) for less than 200-300Php. I’m guessing, you know how old this one is. Maybe 5 or 4 years?

Russ (Rusty Lopez)

2) I fell inlove w/ these the first time I laid my eyes on it

2) This is my first pair of shoes (lol. just kidding) which I was able to take good care. They’re comfy and they’re not like any other. Not to offend Vans user, but I haven’t seen an imitation of this one. Nor have I seen anyone w/ these. Bought this for Christmas when I was in 3rd Year highschool for less than 1,000Php and from that day on–we’re enjoying each others company. Rusty Lopez from Greenhills Shoe Center (not the tiangge).

HAVAIANAS

3) Havaianas' Tops are stronger, long lasting

3) This ain’t my first Havaianas, its actually my second. You see, when I started wearing a pair of Havaianas (the slim one)  which was during my 3rd Year Highschool, buying slippers w/c aren’t Havaianas became unusual (to say that I used to be a slippers person). I found this pair of Havaianas very comfy as time goes by and very chic because it could go along just with everything. Been w/ this treasure in my HK-Macau trip last 2009. You bet, its now 3yrs or 4yrs old. Snagged this before entering 4th Year HS. Havaianas 35-36, less than 900Php, All Flip Flops, MOA.

4) NIKE AIR ZOOM LEAN WMNS

4) For God’s sake, I love this! I bought them together with the Havaianas above, the same day we we’re on a shopping spree. This one is my bestfriend because I had it for HS intrams w/c we lost and got the 2nd spot (volleyball), my Volleyball P.E during 1st yr. 1st Sem. Korfball, the following sem. And to my last 2 P.E’s; table Tennis and Track and Field. Although it is very light and comfy.. Wearing casual clothes together w/ this one ain’t easy. Certainly bought for sports/sweating activites. Nike Air Zoom Lean, Sports Central 4,000Php, MOA.

5) Mary Jane Violet Crocs

5)Imitations/Class AA aren’t my thing, just saying. Crocs are love, to say that I had them (as far as I can remember) in the midst of October 2008. Even worn them to a CISAA game of my ex. What more can I say about this lad? Violet isn’t my color, but I have a love for it, does that sound the same? Mary Jane Violet Crocs, 1,900Php, Crocs ATC.

6) MELLOW YELLOW CHOCOLATE SCHU

6)December 01, 2008. I knew when my mom bought me this because it was the day before my fieldtrip. I remember seeing a Matinee Actor/Idol’s shooting infront of the Quirino Grandstand when I first wore this. A make up artist even asked me to sell this to him, of course I won’t, DUH? even if he’d offer me a million bucks. Find your own pair, loser. Lol. Wore this during last year’s Singapore trip. Yellow Laced Shoe, less than 500Php, Schu Outlet Shop, Ayala Ave. Makati City.

7) CURSED SHOES

7) Naaah, just joking. They’re my JS Promenade shoes, the one i’m wearing when I got my heart broken. Its really beautiful, sadly, its outmoded. You know, today’s heels are the BOMB. Used this twice–two important events in my life; the JS Prom (why I said its cursed shoes) and my Highschool Graduation w/c is the birthday of the one who broke my heart when I was wearing this too. Confusing? Anyway, Chelsea, Dept. Store (Shoe Section), less than 900php, SM Dasma.

8) BOW DOWN

8) This is my second pair of “MonsterKill” shoes. The price, though.  Bought it after the JS Promenade. Yes, I didn’t have enough sleep after getting my heart broken, going home at 4 in the morning, then Makati bound for Christmas shopping by 9am. Tell me what’s hangover. -_- Anyway, bought this for Christmas 2008. And enjoys it for the rest of the years to come. Had to flaunt them in Baguio after Christmas that year, Been w/ me in my Singapore trip last year. Used ‘em during the Ilog Pasig Run w/c was held after my 18th Birthday Bash Last year. And the one I wore when I appeared on Jessica Soho’s segment (lol). This pair of WMNS Low Cut Air Check sure had a lot of memories with me. 2,400Php Nike Park, Greenbelt 3

9) My feet could use some Baguio native slippers

9) From something over price, here’s a Native crocheted native slippers from Baguio. Honestly, I haven’t used it since I/MY mom bought it because I still have a lot of slippers to use at home. They’re so comfy, I sometimes try them on when i’m arranging my shoes. Yes, ‘arranging shoes’ so I guess you’ll be expecting more from this entry. Anyway, got this for 200php, Strawberry Farm, Baguio City.

You shine brighter than my STAR

10) You shine brighter than my STAR

10) My  3rd pair of Havaianas, my present 2nd pair. They’ve been with me since my first year in college, had to use them in Jasha because i’m quite careful about using the other one for it may sign off any day now. This, you see has been w/ me during the before-strike of Ondoy. I even crossed the flooded streets of Dapitan w/ this slippers on my way home both to Jasha and to Cavite. Used this for so many swimming I had, plus, you can see it even if its dark because the yellow linings you see in the stars actually lights up in the dark. Havaianas Top Glow ‘n the Dark, 1,100Php, All Flip Flops MOA.

11) They look pretty cute, but they hurt pretty like hel

11) They’re SWAG, and yes they are but the thing is, they don’t feel comfy at all. Fell in love w/ its velvet texture the day I saw it. Bought it from 168 Mall in Divisoria (Tiangge in the Phil.) for 400php. It looks very pretty even when worn but you really have to get along w/ the pain while walking in it. Used it occasionally–probably? when I feel like wanting to.

12) is it me or are those shoes making my feet look fairer?

12) My sister and I, during my first stay in college had this talk of buying a shirt or something every week. That means, saving up to be able to fund that talk. A week came, while we were on SM Manila, I checked out Artwork and fell inlove with those, the thing is I wasn’t able to save enough and so my sister who was generous and has more money decided to buy me those. Ohh, life is beautiful. Artwork’s SHEEP Doll Shoes, 899php.

13) GLADIATOR SANDALS, MY KIND OF PAIR

13) These babies went to two places at once. I wore them to my second day and last day in Macau and had to transfer by JetStar Ferry Boat going to Hongkong on a 2009 Sembreak and my first ever plane outside the Phils. They’re cute and I so love them, cost me 999Php from BClub, SM San Lazaro. :)

SANUK

14) SANUK means HAPPY in THAI LANG :)

14) I really wasn’t aware of what and how much a pair of Sanuk would cost me since I really don’t mind w/ the brands and the cost. My mom bought me this a week or two before we leave the country for 4/5 days stay in Macau-HK. My sister got a pair, too. Her’s is white and had floral designs in it and of course, smaller than mine. Bought this in Res Toe Run in Glorietta (idk) for 2,000+ Php :) Speculated that it rains whenever I wear this. But the speculation remained as it is, just coincidence :)

15) PRETTY GIRL SWAG :>

15) They are my 2009 Babies. As it is a Christmas tradition that we indulge, rather, our mom indulge us to clothes we like. Since clothes won’t be perfect, shoes are my THING. I really don’t mind if (insert title of the blog here), just as long as I walk with something good on my feet. They are, as far as I remember, were the first blood because they pretty cost like gold. Lol. Php 4,500. Hide Out, Glorietta (idk).

16) A friend knows what you need <3

16) Its a thing that my friends drop by during Christmas. Since one of them is fond of giving me stuffs, he got me this pair of Aeropostale size (idk because its pretty much bigger than my size) slippers. He claimed that his cousins already have them and because he has no girl, decided to give them to me on a Christmas 2009. Flattered, ‘coz i’m his bestfriend too. They’re so comfy even our dog, Kylie loves to use it as her pillow. It took me months to finally wear it around the house. Thank you, Kerald!

17) Orange Easy-Wear Sandals made in PH

 17) January came and my quest for buying shoes did not stop, indeed it went wilder. Excuse me for the term :) I had to find something that is easy to wear and cheap at the same time since I only have less than 300 hundred in my pocket. Well, the Market is a good place for that, and there I found that sandals made from Liliw, Laguna for only 180Php! Way to go, Mau.

CLN

18) you can't ignore someone in red shoes

18) As I was in search of a RED shoe. I think its a shoe color every girl should have in her shoe rack. As for Moi, I need a pair of RED shoes. Not only is it a MUST HAVE but also, I will wear it on my mom’s Red party celebration on the February that month. I found this @ SM San Lazaro while I was with my Girlfriends, Marga and Noreen! Lovely, isn’t it? Red Flats, Celine, 899Php

19) Beaded Liliw Slippers for 180Php

19) I so wanted this even before.. And now that I was able to save enough that I can buy what I want, little by little~ I bought her :) The thing is, since I’m experiencing hyperhydrosis, there are foot marks left and it (the slippers)  didn’t last that long. Anyway, they’re chic and very cute it goes along to almost every outfit.  Cutie patootie for 180php. Not bad :D

20) HAVS

 20) What I hate about myself is that i’m an impulsive buyer.. Especially when I know I have a lot of saved money. I’ll always find a reason for why I bought this and that. Sadly, one product of that is this pair of Havaianas Top. While I can’t deny the fact that that color looks so much attractive, that feeling when you know its not what you really wanted–I felt that. I realized, it ain’t my pair of slippers. It was just there, to serve as a display. Too much of adrenaline rush, 745Php for a havs Top @ All Flip Flops Trinoma with my gf, Noreen.

Tiangge sold it to me for 250 while Malls sell it 500 plus php

21) Tiangge sold it to me for 250 while Malls sell it 500 plus php

21) Don’t ask me for that caption, I saw this at Landmark Trinoma and the price tag says 499. There were 2 girls trying them out and at the back of my head, I was like “I had them for 250php”. Funny how we overlook the little things, good thing even if my dad indulged us to branded garments, my mom on the contrary  introduced us to the simpler life~tiangge. And by that, our favorite.. Divisoria, more particularly, 168 Mall.  This could go along with anything!

22) Crocs WMN Lily's Shoes

22) You know what’s good with owning “authentic” is not only do you feel comfy but you know, it will have a longer life. For my 2nd year in college, I had to carefully decide what pair of shoes should I buy. Knowing that my school turns in a lake, I need to have that pair of shoes that will withstand that “challenge”–crossing the streets of Dapitan, P.Noval and Espanya without worrying if my shoes have signed off. Now that I have two weeks or less ’til second sem starts, i’ll be using mi crocs again and hopefully may it last ’til my last days in UST, 2900Php, Crocs, Glorietta 3.

welcome to the PARTY life

23) welcome to the PARTY life

23) As if I Party? What was I thinking? No, its not because I party but because I want to wear them. I want them on my shoe rack. I first wore them on the first debut I attended~Juhainah’s and my feet didn’t hurt at all. My sister actually pushed me to convince my mom to buy me this so that she may use them too. Way to go for a hidden agenda, lol. Anyway, my mom bought this so that I may use them incase I change my mind of celebrating my 18th bash and there, she give in. WOW to my convincing powers! Used them during Marga’s 18th and of course, my 18th too! Charles and Keith, Singapore.

EYE CANDY

24) EYE CANDY

24) Bedazzled, I love it..plus the color too! Did not wear this that much since t’was always raining and that its velvet, I can’t risk losing it (you know, i have feelings for my treasures). Everytime I wear it, people would always look at them.. can’t blame it for that gorgeous eye catching color. One of which is during the UST-Ateneo Round 1 and the QRosary where we participated in creating a Human Cross. Woo. My Mom bought this for me @ Singapore. Mitju :)

25) ARTWORK's Green Tasseled Loafers

25) I was on shoe ban for months knowing that I will need to buy 2 pairs for my debut. July-September (first two weeks) And I had to snag this pair of Artworks’s Loafers. Duh? You know how picky and OC I am when it comes to what I should wear. I had to buy them because I find them cute for my referee attire plus it can go along with everything (my number 1 reason). And my mom won’t scold me for buying stuff since I will need them! HOHO! Artwork’s @ SM Manila for 899Php :D

26) I had to go on Mall Hopping just to find you

26) So I have my heels for my gown, the loafers for my referee attire and this, the all time Low Cut Chuck Taylor for my out-of- this-world-after-party attire. My mom and I had to go on mall hopping every other day just to find a pair of this. She even reached to the point of quitting and stick to a violet instead.. But NO! We can’t, and finally after 1290891849042 malls, MOA had them~Department Store. Thank God :) Converse All Star Yellow Low Cut @ SM Mall of Asia, 1900Php.

27) Braveheart Wooden Beads Doll Shoes

27) October 09,2010. My college friend, KC Malabanan gave this to me for my 18th birthday! I then gave her 25 centavos. Its a superstitious belief that when someone gives you a pair of shoes, you should pay them any amount because giving shoes is a sign of going away or saying goodbye. Moving on, they’re so comfy and that they could go on with just everything! Again, my reason number 1 is attained! Thank you, KC Malabs for this pair of Doll Shoes from SO FAB!. Here’s her twitter if you wanna check her out! My (RIJANNA).

28) BLACK SANUK TUBE FLOPS

28) I’ve been ranting about how weird they look when I had the chance to hold them and see them that close, I realized.. I want to be a weirdo too! When I got my allowance for half a year, I bought this and bought my sister a pair of Sanuk slippers too. No, not this weird, more of a comfy one. October 21,2010, 1200Php @ Sanuk Glorietta 3

29) First time to wear heels on a Yuletide

29) Yes, it’s my first time to wear heels on a Christmas Day! Like every experience I had, I wasn’t really planning of getting the,. Since it was Christmas Season, a new pair of footwear is a quench. They don’t hurt, they’re cute ;) My friends laughed at them because they we’re surprised seeing me walking in those. Chelsea Wooden Peep-toe Strap Wedge, 899Php @ SM Dasma.

30) BLACK is Elegant :)

30) I was with my GF, Noreen when I bought them. I always regret buying colored flipflops because they’re kinda picky to clothes. When I got the chance to buy this black pair, I frequently use them compared to my other havaianas. Black is elegant, 945php, All Flip Flops @ Trinoma.

31) Payless but its priced 1k?

31) I’m not really a fan of this Payless Store since I think some of the shoes they sell are outmoded. No offense. :D Then One day, my sister bought me this pair of Zoe & Zac Noir Acacia Sandals. She said she just wanted to buy me a pair and I was, “where will I use this” and said “Thank You” afterwards. Its pretty, but the problem is, I still can’t find that event where I can wear this. And yeah, kind of contradicting.. its Payless but the prices of the shoes are roughly 800 and up. Is that even less? LOL.

32) I feel like I'm a Mediterranean Girl

32) I’ve been eyeing on ‘em a week before I actually get a hold of ‘em. Then, on a January 27, 2011, I bought ‘em basically because I don’t have something to wear for the Pyromusical in welcoming UST’s Quadricentennial Year (400th) of Unending Grace! And currently, it gives me that Mediterranean look. Si fab, right? From So Fab! SM San Lazaro for 899Php.

33) Classy But not Pricey

33) Not my ordinary black school flats. My mom and I went to 168 Mall to buy clothes for her ballroom event because there are tons of choices there and its cheaper (my Mom do not really like spending too much for her own) and classy there. I was looking at those when she asked me if I wanted them? OF COURSE! And she wouldn’t take NO for an answer :) And you wanna know how much my mom paid for them? 250Php for this Black Heart Pendant Velvet Flats <3

34) 35) For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One.

34) With one pair you buy, you give a pair to a kiddo. TOMS was on of my “dream” shoes since 2008 and when I get to try them, they don’t have my size :( And when I had the chance to buy one, its out of stock. FML, I gave them my contact number so that they’ll send me an update when the new styles arrive and Eureka! I have a pair now :) The problem is, its too small for me I might give them to my sister eventually. Worn them to the Subic Trip, Thailand Escapade and Iloilo Trip. Looking forward to wearing them or getting a new one.. Toms Brown Canvass, Feb.24,2011 .. 2400Php @Nothing But H2O Glorietta 3 :)

35) Use your colors, literally!

35)  I have this habit of going to a shopping spree a day before an event. T’was my first time not to attend a Quintero class with Noreen (felt like not attending her class forever. gaah) because tomorrow’s our much awaited Bio Trip. We were hyped and decided to go to Green Hills first then Robinsons Place Galleria. Bought them for 199Php and they were as white as snow. After waiting for hours, we went back to UST and decided its too boring and why don’t I paint it with my sister’s Kure Color. Wish me luck, it won’t get wet! Feb. 24, 2011, Rob Dept. Store @ Robinsons Place Galleria.

36) That Gray Flats

36) I was buyig a gift for my BFF, Janelle when I dropped by the shoe section and found them. I wasn’t really planning on buying anything for myself since I don’t have enough money but when I checked them out, 499Php–OMG! You’re mine and its the only pair left!! Like, are we destined? :”> And with no surprise, I bought them! April 3,2011, Punkberry @Robinsons Place Dasma.

37) THAI SANDALS

37) April 17, 2011–our last whole day in Thai was meant to be a shopping day. My Mom and I were out from dawn to sunset. LOL. As I was saying, she bought me this for 300 Baht or roughly 400Php. It has two functions; sandals and slippers and its comfy too! :)

38) I just wish they had a bigger, more of comfy size for me :(

38) I was wearing my number 21 shoe when the sole smiled and resigned. :(  Yes, sad but true.. good thing I was at the mall with my mom. Luckily, I’ve been checking out on this pair months ago but failed tp buy them since they don’t have my sizr. I guess, you can say its fate. HOHO! On the other hand, i think my feet grew and they don’t fit comfortably anymore. My niece, (SCAMMER GABRIELLE) will have them instead :* Parisian Beige Flats, April 25,2011..499Php @ SM Dasma.

39) Floral Oxford Shoes

39) I’m a fan of Oxford Shoes :) And the last time I saw a pair of them was last December which saddens me because I wasn’t able to snag a pair for myself. On a May 24, together with my sister.. I was trying some pair and this one caught my eye. Looking forward, tho. Kiara Floral Oxford Shoes, 820Php @ The Ramp Crossing Glorietta.

40) Pretty in Pink

40) On a June 2,2011, after eating at Mang Raul’s in Las Pinyas, we went straight to ATC. It wasn’t really on my list to buy anything since I didn’t have my ATM with me. But I have to admit, i’ve been checking Sanuk’s footwear and their the bomb! I joke around my sister and well, not to my surprise..she got me those! Tell me what’s LOVE. 990Php, Sanuk @Rustans ATC.

41) Figlia Promo Flats

41) I was on the verge of searching for a cute black shoes. This pair of flats for me are too cute not to include in my blog and shoe rack. Well yeah, I started this entry already when I got possession of these shoes. It’s comfy I wore it during our annually block picture! Love it :) June 4,2011, 799Php @Figlia Dept. Store SM Dasma.

42) I'm Comfortable SHUFFLIN' In those :D

42) Killer Heels! Whenever I wear them especially during the 12th International Youth Day in Iloilo, everyone can’t take their eyes of ‘em. I really don’t know? Is it because we’re dressed accordingly (corporate) or because my shoes are so noisy I wish I can sshhh it. And here’s the thing, I party-ed til dawn with this and it was hella fun, plus I shuffled, dolphin danced and dougie-d w/ ‘em. Guess how much this baby costs? 999Php, So Fab! @ SM San Lazaro.

43) I tried 'em on when they're 1k and had them for 600

43) When my gf, Noreen and I went on my shopping spree, Forever21 can’t be forgotten. They have this glass box with a lot of sandals in it and to my surprise this sandals are too heavy, I can’t purchase them. After months, I forgot them already but i’m still in search of cutie sandals. A classmate of mine asked my othe gf and I what are our shoe sizes and yes, she sold me this for 600Php ranting that she wasn’t able to try them on because she had to drop by and just by those. I love you, Chaaa :) Originally 1K, now 600Php @Forever21 Makati :)

44) Top: the color that evokes L and M wavelength (HAHAHA. kinda equivocal, Long & Med) 45) Bottom: Leopard Print Pointed Toe Doll Shoes

44 & 45) Write up still not available for I haven’t worn any of them and I just bought them from 168 Mall last Friday. The yellow sexy flats (According to the Salesgirl) costs 250Php originally 280Php and the Leopard Print costs 380Php and got it for 300Php. I love my Mom’s skills when it comes to bargaining! Cost me less than a thousand for 2 shoes, DOPE it is!

Thanks for checking out my entry about SHOES… they are my guilty pleasure. I’m picturing my future dilemmas–SHOES. If you have any comments or if you need help regarding where to buy this and that, you could leave me a comment and I will do my best to help you and sort things out with you! For the mean time, I’m glad I was able to finish this entry. Way to end my October! Happy Halloween Guys.. Oh wait, I think I want orange flats. Na-ah, must stop thinking about shoes when I still got a few pairs I haven’t worn.

Don’t just wear what’s in but create something you could fit in! GOODNIGHT GUYS! I’ll keep you posted! Will update this as soon as I get another pair and when I have the will. Toodles :)

October 30, 2011

the bathroom is a good place to cry your heart out

Trust me. I remember any bathroom I had attachment to becomes my ‘bestfriend’. I really do not consider anyone to be my best friend, anymore. For I lost two people last year just as the thought that they should’ve been my escort during my 18th bash. Well, I’ve got close friends, but calling and labeling them best friend is quite heavy, weighs a lot of responsibility. As I was saying, bathroom/comfort room (or what you call toilet) becomes my second bedroom. Most likely, I feel more comfortable crying my heart out when i’m in the bathroom rather than in my bedroom.  The bathroom seem to have a nice ambiance where you can just give your emotions to.

My piece of advice, from someone who not only cried but punched the wall until her fist became numb (just don’t do the last 3 words I said, not healthy).

When everyone fails to support you or when you’re sick and tired of everything you hear~go to the bathroom (one that is friendly, you know what I mean!HA!) and cry your heart out, its easier..although you can’t expect it to talk and give you advices. That’ll be Creepy! Anyway, we all have different techniques on erasing things we want and throwing them somewhere else. Find your comfort spot, that way.. it’ll be easier for you to move forward. GOODLUCK. I’m so over the “moving on” phase. Toodles! :)

would it be a cliché if I say I’m still hoping for NBA? :(

D' MAMBA :B

Every time I open my cabinet, there he is, reminding me he'll get his 6th ring..SOONER

I seriously miss the NBA. Considering that today should’ve been the official opening (via Philippines time and from a fan, my body clock kinda reminded me) of the much awaited, National Basketball Association. On top of that, I miss that man, Kobe Bryant, 24.

He is the main reason why i’m hooked in this “more of guy stuff“, plus other guys like Ray Allen, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony and a lot of oozing guys ;) in the league. Since I barely knew of Michael Jordan realizing I wasn’t born during the Portland-Chicago 1992 Finals, there I was~feasting my eyes on the Black Mamba in my 2nd year highschool. <3

I just wish they end the lockout. It’s never too late. I’m picturing my life and how boring it’ll be.. or pro’lly it’ll be my chance to f’nally get myself somebody to love (plays Bieber’s song. lol). Whatt? NBA is my boyfriend~ i’m happy and contented when I have it in my life.. everyday dose of it or every other day, depending on the Lakers’ game sched. Not to mention, it served as my drug/ addiction instead of a Boyfie! :> HAHA. That was funny, but I really need to get my boyfriend now. :)

I hate the lockout.. I have to blab about not hearing any mock from the Celts’, Mavs’ and the bossy Heat and some other team’s fans. Seriously, end the lockout and let’s get down to business!!!!

When i’m on my way applying for a US visa for the very reason that i’ll catch a plane to Staples and watch my Lakers pound a team—blurry.

*Sigh* For now, i think I really have to indulge myself with other things even if it hurts (I know i’m over reacting). You can’t blame a female baller for reacting this way. Anywho, would it be a cliché if I say I’m still hoping for NBA? :(

i’m so random

Don’t brag, you look like a FAG. Ooopsie, i mean, you look like a faggot :3

I hate it when people brag so much about this and that and blahh blahh blahh when you know a lot about the things they say (well a part of what they brag because I’ve talked to that person and he/she kept on shifting the topic away from “that”).Can’t blame anyone but hey, you don’t have to think about this since everyone may have experienced that, so don’t assume or quit feeding your thoughts that it’s you. You know~ some things are equivocal. :D

Assuming people can assume, but sorry..you’re not worth my time to be blogged about. lol. This is a random post (meaning, I do not have any person in mind while writing this). Just ranting about stuffs. blogging is my way of killing time during semestral breaks and summer days. My body still hurts, I can’t say I had a good sleep since my body feels like hell. Blame it for not diving into the pool for months. HOHO. moreover, i think it’ll recover sooner <3 I just wishhhhhhh. I really do not have any idea how to feel being 19. Nothing changed, you just add another year in your life. I didn’t grow up (with that, I mean my height remained as it is) but my height doesn’t justify how I look at things. I graduated from highschool, DUH? Sick of those immaturity.

As of now, i’m still single (gaaah, for more than 2 years so don’t get me wrong if I get butterf in my tummy) but not looking ( i think i’ve found it. HAHA). And hey, being single doesn’t mean you still cling on to the past—I just don’t look at love as a game. Do not grab things easily, can’t commit the same mistakes. Oh! Nevermind, I really think this year will be a good one. I mean, the end of this year is surely worthy being blogged about even if I didn’t have a good start of it :)

And yeah, I did not fail any subject this semester~thank God. Just told last week that if ever, i’ll drunk myself til I get sober and all (was that an insult, that i’m assured I don’t have any failure) My mom told me, you don’t have to get UNO to be considered good or you know, you just have to study because after all, they’re just numbers.. they do not define who you are. I love how she understands me. Considering that my brother was a college drop out, my sister delayed from graduating—-coming from a Professor/Professional person, she doesn’t care at all, as long as you know how to handle your life :) I still have 3 semesters left to enjoy my college life. It saddens me whenever I think of the fact that life goes so fckn’ fast :( College, so far for me is where I found my bridesmaid. Well, forget higschool~MEAN :P *trying to erase the thought in my mind* BUT I CAN’T. haaaay. ~I PROMISE I’LL TRY MY VERY BEST (even if i’m already am) TO GET FAT :) OHHH GOD, how come I eat like an elephant but still, I do not get any fats :(

Well, I have to go~ need to visit my dentist :D Any suggestion for my braces? fck, whatta a way to end a text post. anyway, Adios!. will see my bestfriend after doing to the dent and my boy :D

MY STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS

’tis was an academic paper on my Political Dynamics subject–assuming that I will be the President someday. LOL. But really, DAMN.

(created/modified last– July052011) I am the SECOND to the highest YOW. 98 :”>

My generation has witnessed a dramatic economy; a land where change is a need but the urge to do it is still unseen. We all want change, but in order to create change we must eradicate the things that does not anymore support the world we are living today. Our country needs change since then, but not all of our leaders are able to make a step…

Our funds for agriculture aims to recognize farmers and give them modern machineries in their strive to continuously feed our country although their numbers decreases…
Farmers should be the backbone of our country. Tracing back in time, owning land is a privilege. By the passing of ” I Till, I Own Act”, farmers are given half or a quarter of the land they till since it is their blood and sweat that gives us food in our tables. Farmers are given discounts on gasoline that fuels machineries used in farming. This is to ensure and enliven the agricultural industry of the country.

From 45% to 30% inhabitants of Manila last year, we have relocated more than 50, 000 families and have given them Housing Loans. The relocation area also renders work for the people and is accessible to schools and hospitals for them to make the area their public settlement. Not only does this act lessens the population in Metro Manila and other nearby regions but also balances the use of available natural resources.
From the Rent Control Law created in the Arroyo administration, we are glad to tell you that we are able to permanently impose a maximum of 5% yearly increase only. Thank you, Congress.
Everybody is entitled to their own identity; by this the government together with the National Statistics Office (NSO) will improve its facilities and datum about the citizens of the Philippines. Through the use of technology, a person is entitled to give his fingerprints and personal data about himself by the age he reaches suffrage. This is in regards to solving cases faced by the government and to keep track of its people.

Since the establishment of the PNR in 1875, it has helped the Filipino people to transport within the island of Luzon. In the 21st century, the PNR beset a lot of problems that the operation was stopped and suspended. The government in cooperation with the DPWH is about to open the new and improved Philippine National Railways line connecting the 3 major islands of the Philippines; Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao respectively. This is not to limit the capacity to reach not only Luzon but also the 2 islands. It will have 3 trips a month, estimated to transport 500-1,000 people. With the establishment of this new PNR, it will be a great service to the people of our country.

The educational institution should be given importance since they are the second home of our children…

Elementary education does not need to be expensive. Graduating from a Central (Public) School, I experienced a treatment that is not fair. Those who are in a class where quiz bee masters are found have a better classroom, better teacher when it should apply to all. The DepEd should see to it that every classroom, no matter Highest or in the Homogenous sections is given fair facilities. An estimation of 1,000,000 books are given to different schools in different parts of the country in the subjects; Hekasi, MAPEH, English, Science, Math and Filipino, respectively.

From the past years, the number of Elementary graduates that reaches the Secondary diminishes. Private High School should not be the only one who offers good and quality education. Public High Schools would be a ground for teachers who graduated from the field. This is to render good service to the students that they get what they deserve because studying is privilege no matter what the cost is.

My previous teachers during my grade school worked abroad because the salary they get is not enough. The government will make it a point that teachers in the public schools will receive a 13-month pay and a 5% increase every year. This may not be as big, but we do believe that it will improve on the years to come.

What a great help plastics has served us, but I think its time to be more practical. Let us eradicate the use of plastic and restore the use of paper bags. Although paper equals to trees, it is much easier to replace a tree than to wait for a plastic to dissolve.

Since we are located in the Pacific where low pressure areas develop into typhoons, we are not new to floods and natural phenomena. We often delay giving aids to the secluded areas. On the start of October where rains are not most likely expected to come, construction of roads, footbridges and major bridges will be done to isolated areas in the 13 regions in the country targeted to be finish by the start of the rainy season.

Taking care of one’s health should not be expensive. Together with the Department of Health, the “Rx Discount Cards” under the “Cheaper Medicine Act” will be given to the mass people in order for them to avail to cheaper medicine. This will aid to more than 50,000 families or even the whole nation.

Speaking of health, our national players in the past lack funds. My government aims to tend the Olympic Players funds in order to be able to train and provide modern tools that will enhance and harness their talents in sports, given that they are rewarded and prioritized in preparation and the after of the Olympic events. Creation of sports arena that would serve as their training ground is one of those.

The invention of mobile phones incorporated with it the establishment of different networks that would support texting and call services has made big market to networks. Communication should not be high-priced.
The government will compete with networks who fail to market their services permanently, offering cheap, affordable, and convenient-to-all services.

Likewise in the telecommunications, why would we give people money when we can reduce the burden of paying bills? The government would not hesitate to compete when it renders the welfare of the people. Government Owned Electric Power plant vs. Private Corporations is needed when the government is unable to convince the private owned power plants to maintain a permanent cheap billing system.

The age rate of people with vices is alarming. Minors have easy access to liquors and cigarettes because they are sold to the public, in a very cheap price. Sin taxes should be given to these and ensure that these taxes goes to the development of the country. If the past government’s project regarding smoking with a corresponding area did not work, putting a large amount of tax to these luxury vices should lessen the number of users, smoking and drinking alcohol should be pleasure and not a habit.
In comparison with the past, we have established infrastructures that paved way for better service to the people. I think, now is the time to build and reconstruct our ports and marinas. This is to develop our country like Singapore, one of the growing ports in Asia. As a country bounded by bodies of water, with 60 ports in different parts of the country, why don’t we develop it not only in the fishing industry but also to ports and marinas.
Adaptive reuse or reconstruction of dilapidated and abandoned building for governmental purposes. Since infrastructures arose in the Metropolis and the need for more is impossible when almost the whole Metro Manila is occupied, the government together with the DENR and UAP (United Architects of the Philippines) will reconstruct dilapidated and reuse abandoned buildings with the use of green architecture to lessen the pollution and make the Metropolis earth friendly.

Since we are encouraging the use of Solar Panels, the government too will adapt the use of such in all government owned infrastructures. This is to decrease the consumption of energy as much as possible. Last year, almost 10 government owned buildings have subscribed to the usage of Solar Power, today we are planning to use them even to the smallest form of government structures (i.e, police stations, municipal halls, etc.)

Our airports greatly contribute in describing what our country looks like. I suggest a relocation of the NAIA airports since the growing number of infrastructures in the heart of Manila is frightening. The NAIA relocation site will still lay in Manila, most probably stretching from the dilapidated Uniwide Mall up to the coast line of Manila de Bay, Macapagal Boulevard. This is favorable since infrastructures adjacent to Airports contribute to delay of flights due to pollution.

Foreign investment should not be limited. With this, I am opening the Philippines to foreign investors such as Ship Yard manufacturers, clothing manufacturers and Automobile manufacturers. This is not only to develop the country into a manufacturing Nation but also to be able to assist the increasing unemployment rate we encountered previously. Eventually, investments will double and the citizens of the Philippines can open its own manufacturing industry and be able to compete with the world.
Terrorism. Peace in the country should flourish and talks happening between the government and the disputes happening in Mindanao. The government recognizes Mindanao and still wishes for peace in the region. We must show that there are no religious divisions, that we can share one belief. In order to attain peace, it does not require the use of violence.

we’ll see to that..

onto the FUTURE!! I know its pure hypothetical, but I guess it ain’t that bad right?

Hello Second Guy

First- (a.) The ordinal number matching the number one in a series. (b.)The one coming, occurring, or ranking before or above all others. (c.) The beginning; the outset: from the first; at first. (d.)  The transmission gear or corresponding gear ratio used to produce the range of lowest drive speeds in a motor vehicle. (e.) The winning position in a contest: finished the season in first. source

Firsts were meant to stay there. But not forever, they may but it’s a reminder of once a great love came but had to end. The second ain’t llike the first. The second is a new beginning, a new love. I really am not fond of giving out too much love, no, I meant, I, as much as possible would want to share my life even to a few, but worthy of it. The first is a good teacher, a reminder that the next one would be way much better. More often does fate make you and your first cross paths in the long run, but that isn’t an assurance of a second chance, a second time around for the great love.

I admit, people often ask me why I had only one relationship in the past, and that I’m wasting my youth. But for me, true love can wait, and even if I had wrinkles and there are a lot of women in the world and still, that second guy who walks in my life sees me no matter what, then he is my second.. and probably, I want to be my last. Love for me is a process, time. Not an atm where everything has to be in a rush, You’ve gotta work it out, to make things fall in places. My second may not be the one who introduced love to me, or stuffs you know we tend to meet when we give it a first shot. I just want to be enough for someone, to make him stay. I guess, my second guy would be one lucky guy. I swear. Not to act like a boss, but I only love once in a blue moon, so it’s a take it or leave it game.

First guy I’ll introduce to the family. Yes, since I talked to my mom on “the feeling which is quite hard not to feel” she’s guessing I’m introducing someone this year. (which I still am looking forward, who are you?)

Secondly, the first guy I’m not afraid the whole world to know, I’m inlove with. Since my first relationship was behind everyone else’s back except for some, this one wouldn’t be. How beautiful it is that I felt so much joy in the wrong one, what more when the right HE comes along. Yes, you bet it! Someone to call, mine and mine and let the whole world envy about. Lol

Next, though this is a little awkward, he’d be the first guy to be on my default pictures. Things like profile picture(s) is very meaningful to me, so people who we’re part of it/recently in it are the WORLD to me . I don’t care if I got less “likers”, who needs their approval anyway.

To add, since I rejected quite a many guys, yeah I know, I’m bossy or whatever, he’d be a living proof that even if there are a billion other guys, and maybe a hundred to meet, I made a choice to be with him. The guy whom i’ll be enough to call his, and his’ life. Someone who won’t let temptation or anything break the bond we had, who, even if goes under misunderstandings finds each other hard to let go. I’m aware that  there were quite a few people who got involve in my first relationship, but this one is a fruit of seriousness. A relationship isn’t a game, it’s a commitment to give yourself to someone because your life is too precious to be kept to yourself alone.

Lastly,  this shouldn’t be enumerated because this will automatically be a part of why he’d be lucky. Because as what I said above, I only love once in a blue moon. Either, I give him the best of both worlds like the first one, or love him from here to the moon and back.  Yes, you only got two choices or rather, will experience one; same ordinary love (like everyone else’s.lol) or that real, inconvenient, unselfish “i-can’t-live-without-you” kind of love.

Pretty lucky, right?

This may not mean anything to people who’ll read this, but I believe that everyone we meet along the journey is there for a reason. We may not know it from the moment we meet them. I wouldn’t wait, because waiting is equivocal. Usure of what is there in store for us; waiting. Like expectations equals to heartbreak. While I am on my way doing the things I like to happen, trying to build a better future.. what do we know? he’ll come along one day J  and then your life is not yours, anymore

the making of a GOOD SMILE

You’re one lucky person if you don’t need to go to the dentist and choose what color to put on that bracket. Having a bad set of teeth isn’t only a factor why you sometimes hate your life, its also a burden especially when densists who swore they’ll make your smile worth capturing, make your life little less like that.

Sorry for the late post about having my braces removed. I really thought my teeth would get awesomely awesome since I had them during my first year in highschool. I remember getting a violet rubber as my first set of colors for that. After 6years, I had to consult another dentist because I really don’t think my teeth are getting any better. To say that my first dentist is not a licensed one (?? sources say). Yes, it looks better compared when I still don’t have them, but, it’s almost 6years.. where’s all the money going? So yes, here’s the picture of me trying to pose w/o them and staying without them for less than two weeks.  I wasn’t really excited about removing them because I really think I’m only beautiful (yes, I’m flattering myself) with them. And without them is another story. Sorry, i don’t have confidence.

1.) The B&W picture is taken the day I had them removed on a March 28,2011. Sorry, I really am still a noob here and uploading pictures aren’t really plan of this whole blogging thing. But, as inspired by a friend IAMROSE. Here I am, educating myself.

I'm still not used to "the" FEELING

'coz w/o you braces, my life is now complete..See me without braces, in 2 years

2.) The second picture is my last day without BRACES (April 04,2011). I’m guessing, I still ain’t getting the body I want because of them (braces). And sure, this is for my own good. I was biting a paper with “After 2 years again plus a sad face” because the expected or my expected picturesque set of teeth will have to be done in 2 years. (Sorry for the penmanship, my built in webcam is mirrored, I had to write the other way around). Woah, 8 years in total. Anyway, getting my new set and having a new dentist won’t make me stop myself eating. Braces? who says they hurt? It’s all in the mind.

say goodbye

so long teeth

Just a tip: Be sure you get the most of what you spend. I’m lucky, I was able to seek advice from people. My sister? This is her 3rd time. I’m pretty lucky.

See me live a life without braces in 2 years. Adieu!
